What is Involved in a Political Election?

A political election is a process by which a group of people or a population of people make a decision to choose an individual to hold office. Elections are usually the defining aspect of what a democracy stands for– being able to choose individuals in government to represent the people. Elections can be held to fill office in a legislative, executive, and judiciary branch both in local, state, and Federal governments. An election does not have to be political; it is a process that can also be held to elect corporate officials in a business or within a non-profit organization. What is Involved in an Election? Everything is Political

Politics are the process by which people or groups of people make collective decisions that affect an entire community or nation-state. Politics is a force of human nature by which the hierarchical human social construct of power is manipulated, transferred, and/or put into use for the benefit of the collective entity. It is human nature to be power hungry, each group or individual believes that their ability to make collective decisions is superior to the other. The ability to make collective decisions is what defines power. All political factions compete for power. Politics rule all forms of social activity because human beings evolved to create a division of labor and activity as an optimal means of surviving. The Quality of Political News as a Political issue

Political news covered by the mainstream media does not give comprehensive information surrounding the political issues of today. The mainstream media’s political news offer only superficial information on the political issues of the day. The political news covered on television infamously uses a sound bite of an important political speech and pass it as the “best political news on television.” Ok, so I’m being a bit harsh. To television’s credit, the political news covered by that form of media is geared to a people on-the-go. But an intellectually curious individual will not be satiated by the sparse coverage of political news stories covered by television. Let’s be real, gratification is not always instant. The classic “who?”, “when?”, “where?”,” why?” of journalism are maintained in political news covering the political issues of the present. However, the most important question regarding all journalism seems to be neglected on television; that question is “how?” How is such an important question journalists must ask themselves, especially on stories that are covering a salient political issue. “How” explains the origins of all events; it puts things into context. Context is something that television cannot give its viewers, and in understanding politics; context is everything. This … Continue reading

Political Parties

A political party is an organization consisting of a group of people that represents a political ideology referred to as a platform. Political parties use collective power to champion current political, social, and economic issues. Political parties are an aspect of democracies and republics all over the world. They help individuals gain an understanding of complex social, economic, and political issues that effect the entire or parts of the greater community. Political parties can represent religious, economic, social and political ideologies that become the applied versions of political philosophies. Within a country, there could be one, two, or more political parties competing for power within the elected seats of government. Individuals representing a political party are elected to serve the interests of the political party and the people as a whole in democracies and republics. These individuals can be elected to executive governmental positions like Prime Minister or President. These individuals representing a political party may also serve the interests of the party in the legislative branches of government like the parliament or congress. Political parties also informally affect the judicial branch as judges are not immune to party affiliation; although ideally, a judge is supposed to abstain from party … Continue reading
